Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 23, 2026 · Last updated: May 28, 2026
MemoirTalk ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the MemoirTalk iOS application.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use MemoirTalk:
- Voice recordings. When you start a conversation session, your microphone audio is streamed in real time to our servers for processing. We do not store raw audio files — only the transcribed text.
- Life story content. The stories, memories, and personal information you share during conversations are stored as text to build your memoir.
- Device identifier. A randomly generated device ID is stored locally on your device to associate your content with your account. This ID does not contain personally identifiable information.
- Family data. If you participate in a family group, we store family membership information including your role (admin, elder, or viewer), a display nickname, and invite code records. This data is used solely to enable family sharing features.
- Usage data. Basic session metadata (session start/end times, conversation length) to operate and improve the service.
- Subscription data. Plan tier and remaining conversation time are stored to manage your account. Payment transactions are handled entirely by Apple and RevenueCat — we do not store payment card details.
We do not collect your name, email address, or payment information unless you voluntarily provide them.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate your memoir articles and stories using AI.
- To provide text-to-speech playback of your stories.
- To store and retrieve your memoir content across sessions.
- To enable family sharing features when you have opted in.
- To manage your subscription and conversation time balance.
- To operate and maintain the MemoirTalk service.
We do not use your conversation content to train AI models.
3. Third-Party Services
MemoirTalk uses the following third-party services to operate:
We do not sell your data to any third party.
4. Family Sharing and Privacy
MemoirTalk includes optional family features that allow a family administrator to view an elder member's memoir stories. These features are governed by the following principles:
- Sharing is off by default. An elder's stories are private unless they explicitly enable family sharing in their privacy settings.
- Granular control. Elders can block specific topic categories from being shared and can mark individual stories as private at any time.
- Admin cannot override. Family administrators cannot access stories that an elder has not chosen to share.
- Consent is recorded. When an elder enables or disables family sharing, the action and timestamp are logged.
5. Data Retention
Your memoir content is stored for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of all your data at any time through the "Danger Zone" option in the app's Me tab, or by contacting us at support@automemoir.ai.
When you delete your account, all stored data — including sessions, transcripts, extracts, memoir articles, and family membership records — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access. You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure. You can delete all your data at any time via the app or by contacting us.
- Right to portability. You can request your data in a portable format.
- Right to object. You can object to certain uses of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@automemoir.ai.
7. Children's Privacy
MemoirTalk is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS) and secure cloud infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of MemoirTalk after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
